Education

GROUPS – Over the last couple of years we have had groups of interested parties spending a day or so with us as part of their wider education on the conservation issues of historic buildings. The groups have consisted of architects, conservation officers, churchwardens and fabric officers, Diocesan officers and those from other trades and disciplines. Following a brief history of glass making and discussions on conservation issues, they have tried their hand at some practical work and shown how a new window progresses from a design to the finished piece. Groups as many as 14 have enjoyed their day with us, including the Churches Conservation Trust and the Institute of Continuing Education, University of Cambridge

CLASSES – For the individual or smaller groups, we can offer weekend classes on a Saturday or Sunday. To get the most out of your day, the numbers are restricted to 4 people (adults only). During the course of the day, you will design or select a pattern, cut, assemble, solder and cement a leaded or copperfoil panel with which you will impress your family and friends!! You can bring your own designs or make other objects if you wish - we can just provide the tools, materials and the know-how. Due to the setting up of these classes, we prefer groups of 4 or the full cost of the day (280) divided between 2 or 3 people. Such groups can arrange a day to suit and we shall do our best to accommodate you.

Why not gather a few friends together for a birthday treat – we’ll even provide the cake!! For individuals, a class has to attain 4 people in advance to take place. We will add your name to our waiting list on a first come, first served basis. There is only 1 weekend class per calendar month. Please contact Susan McCarthy by email or telephone for dates and other information. Details of these on our ‘Contact Us’ page.
