St.LUKE'S, TIPTREE (2014)
West of the North aisle.
The window is in memory of Mrs.Elaine Corbett. It is set in the children's play area and reflects the biblical quotation, (appropriately from the Gospel bearing the church's name sake Apostle), St.Luke 18:16:-
"SUFFER THE LITTLE CHILDREN TO COME UNTO ME"
Being an active member of the church for many years, and having been a midwife, this is a very appropriate subject matter for this corner of the building. Elaine's love of flowers is expressed with a garland of Spring and Summer flowers, including a cluster of Forget-me-Nots, surrounding the bottom inscription plaque.
Christ warmly welcomes the 2 children, in modern-day clothing. The girl holds a daffodil, to reference Elaine's especial love of Spring flowers and her work with, and love of, children, and the boy gestures his connection with Jesus by clasping His tunic. He is dressed in His earthly clothes and stands in a back drop of olive branches, representing peace.
The biblical quotation, written on a long banner, folds around itself at the top, enveloping the Sun that represents the warmth and vitality of Elaine.
